Trail Guidelines

These aren't strict rules so much as gentle agreements. They help us protect the forest, your fellow walkers, and the kind of experience we're all here for.

1. Move at the group's pace

Our walks are intentionally slow. Please stay with the group rather than pushing ahead — the pace is part of the practice, not a delay to it.

2. Stay on the path

Forest floors hold years of slow-grown moss, lichen, and seedlings. A single step off-trail can undo a decade. Wherever possible, walk single-file on the existing tread.

3. Keep voices low

You don't need to be silent, but please match the volume of the forest. It's quieter than most people expect, and most of what you'll want to hear is too.

4. Phones in pockets

We don't ban phones, but we ask that you keep them tucked away unless you're taking a photo. Notifications break the spell for everyone.

5. Leave what you find

Stones, ferns, feathers, mushrooms — they belong to the place. Take photographs, sketches, and memories.

6. Pack it in, pack it out

Including organic scraps. Apple cores and orange peels can take years to break down in our climate and attract wildlife to trails.

7. Children are welcome

Ages 10 and up on most walks. We offer dedicated family walks once a month for younger children — ask us about the next one.

8. Weather is part of it

We walk in light rain, fog, and gentle snow. We cancel only for genuinely unsafe conditions. Dress in layers. Wool is your friend.

9. Allergies and accessibility

Please let us know in advance of any allergies, mobility needs, or other considerations. Several of our trails have accessible options.

10. Be kind

To each other, to the guides, to the place. That's the whole list, really.
